Our story

Why Apex exists.

Apex started with a simple observation. Too many good club cricketers get left out of a side for reasons that have nothing to do with how they play, who they know, how long they have been around, or whose turn it is next.

The idea was straightforward: build a club in Edmondson Park from the ground up, with selection criteria written down before a single trial is held, so every player knows exactly what earns a spot and what does not.

2026 is season one. The name is new, the crest is new, and so is the standard everyone gets held to.

Apex Cricket Club exists to bring players, families and volunteers together around the game, starting with our first season.

Our training venue, competition entry and season structure are being finalised now. We will publish the details as soon as they are locked in, rather than promising dates we cannot keep.

Whether you have played club cricket in Australia before or you are stepping onto a ground here for the first time, there is a place for you at Apex. Expressions of interest from players, parents, coaches, managers, scorers and supporters are all welcome.

Apex runs on a non-profit basis. There is no outside funding behind the club, player registrations and sponsorship are what cover grounds, kit and insurance each season, so every contribution goes straight back into the team.

How Apex works

Selection you can trust.

We know what it feels like to watch a team get picked on anything but form. Apex is built to be different.

Selection on merit

Places in the side are earned at training and in the middle, not handed out. Attendance, form and performance decide the eleven, and the same yardstick applies to every player, no matter how long they have been at the club.

Clear decisions

Selectors explain their calls. If you are left out of a side, moved in the batting order or given the captaincy, you hear the reason directly from the committee, not through the group chat.

One club, one standard

Apex fields a single senior side, open to any player 18 and over. New arrivals, longtime locals and anyone switching clubs train under the same conditions and get judged the same way.

Room to grow

Not every player starts at the top of the order. Net sessions, honest feedback and a real pathway back into the team matter just as much as the sheet posted on Sunday morning.
